2023Local farmers and cheese makers gather in the square to sell their Gouda cheeses directly to consumers. The event aims to recreate the historical trading and weighing of cheeses that has been taking place in Gouda for centuries. The Painting is a mixture between different materials, photography, acrylic paint and mediums. The photograph has been transferred onto the panel and then combined with golden paint and colourful heavy textures. The panel has sides with depth of 9 cm.

2021Snow is not a common sight in the Netherlands – winter rarely falls below freezing and any snow that does fall melts long before it can pile up on the ground. This year, it has snowed, in February, and these days ware full of joy. Although spring temperatures have already climbed above 20ºCelsius, in April we saw a rare snowfall, which resulted in the unique occurrence of snow falling amongst delicate Blossoms. Unfortunately, this scene did not last for very long but it left stunning visual memories and it has been inspiration for many of us.

Because it symbolizes nature, green is one of the most beautiful and comforting colours that attracts harmonious feelings that can diffuse anxiety and helps us stay calm and refreshed. Beige greens and pale yellow-greens are the most stress-reducing shades in the green family. Pink is another colour that promotes tranquillity and peace. It's peacefulness promotes balance of your energies.

The artwork is an exploration of the effects of light and sound on human perception. The panel is constructed to a point of completion through a process of paint layering and specific application and delicate balance between chaos and structure with a ruthlessness in how information is selected and deleted. The painting seeks to provide a meditation on the fundamental nature and essence of basic human emotions, where light and sounds are treated as a solid material. The painting is made with layers of contrasting reds including carmine, magenta, terracotta, orange, metallic copper and azure blues and purple. The metallic copper paint cause an almost shimmering effect like a light breeze coming through the poppies at sunset.

De Goudse Koetsier
2018acryl, fotografie afdruk en acrylmediums op paneel In mei 2015 liep ik in de ochtend op de kaasmarkt opzoek naar architectonische details, maar toen viel mijn blik op de koetsier, met de oude koets en paarden, hij had de uitstraling van een andere tijd, gewoon een terugblik in de tijd. Ik kon het niet laten om een paar foto’s van hem en zijn koets te maken, toen wist ik nog niet wat ik met de foto’s zou doen. Eind verleden jaar heb ik deze foto verwerkt in een schilderij.

2018In het begin van de Zomer van 2018 heb ik een reisje gemaakt naar Frankrijk, natuurlijk kwam ik terug overladen met inspiratie. Ik heb nu nog steeds visuele herinneringen die mij nog heel lang zullen inspireren, maar een van de meest onverwachte, snel veranderende en wisselende plaatjes met blauwe plakken op de velden en langs de weg. Ze kwamen en verdwenen met verschillende visuele hoeken langs de weg, allemaal Franse Boshyacinten in de miljoenen, die lucht en velden verbonden en een symbiose van een nieuwe dementie creeeren waar de horizon smelt in kleuren van groen en blauw.
Geel
2018Dit schilderij is tot stand gekomen op een warme zomersdag in 2018. De inspiratie voor deze kleurcombinatie is heel spontaan ontstaan. Laag liggend sterk zonlicht drong mijn atelier binnen, het was verblindend, maar ter zelfde tijd bracht het een gevoel van vreugde. Ik had een onmiddellijk zelfverzekerd gevoel met de hooft kleuren. De ene is de exacte schaduw van de andere.
Mist
2018Ochtend mist typisch van de lage landen van Nederland. Ik kijk altijd met fascinatie naar dit fenomeen en probeer deze te omhelzen en vast te legen met mijn naakte oog of met een camera. Transparante lagen met een zin van diepte van een pracht landschap met delicate kleuren.

Nadat ik er achter kwam dat ik dit doek niet in mijn atelier zou kunnen krijgen, heb heel lang voor dit grote doek gestaan en heb ik gewacht op lekker warm, droog weer zodat ik buiten kon gaan schilderen. Natuurlijk was het een hele prettige dag om buiten te zijn, volop licht met het frisse lente gevoel. Gezien de grote van het doek wou ik de kleurcombinatie subtiel, licht en pastel houden. Ik was meer geïnteresseerd in de variatie van texturen en lagen. Ik had nog geen naam voor dit schilderij in gedachten en opeens lande er een veer op mijn doek, recht in het midden van een net geschilderd deel, recht in het midden van de natte verf. De eerste reactie was, "snel dat ding moet er nu af", maar toen keek ik er even goed naar, stapte even verder weg en dacht, "Perfect" en dat was dat. Ik ben door gegaan met het schilderen en zo is de naam "Veer" ontstaan.

Soms kunnen met woorden gevoelens en impressies niet beschrijven. Soms worden deze met behulp van een paar klodders verf veel beter overgebracht aan de kijker en hopelijk kunnen ze voelen wat ik op dat moment deed. Het is meer een open warme plek waar je, je eigen gedachten en je zintuigen kunt focussen.

2009Dit is een schilderij dat geïnspireerd is door de Rila Meren in Bulgarije. In mijn jeugd en later als volwassene heb ik in deze bergen geklommen en elke keer was ik weer overdonderd door de kristal heldere schoonheid van de natuur. Aan de top van deze bergen, die van 2500m naar 3500m boven zeespiegel liggen, zijn zeven prachtige meren, elk op een ander niveau. Om ze allemaal te zien moet je steeds hoger klimmen.
