This painting is inspired by the countless roses that bloom in the Bulgarian Rose Valley, located in the heart of my home country. It’s not only the beautiful shades of rose that captivate me, but also the unforgettable, rich scent that fills the valley during May and June. The Damask rose—also known as the Bulgarian rose—has a deep, luxurious fragrance, and Bulgaria is one of the world’s leading producers of rose oil. Dust of Roses is my minimalist expression of that inspiration. The canvas features thick sides, fully painted so that no external framing is needed—though one can be added if desired. One side is painted in a deep red to subtly close the composition and enhance its visual impact.
